Cable will arrange the installation of your electricity meter where required. The timeframe that applies depends on the type of metering work and whether other electrical or network work is required.
Where possible, we will agree an installation date with you.
If you're connecting electricity to a premises for the first time, we will arrange for your meter to be installed:
The connection work must be complete and the premises must be safe, accessible and ready for the meter before this timeframe applies.
If you ask us to install or replace a meter and no new connection or alteration to your electricity connection is required, we will arrange for the meter to be installed:
This can include a customer-requested upgrade from an older meter to a smart meter.
Sometimes installing or changing a meter also requires changes to your electricity connection — for example, an upgrade to your supply or other work that needs to be coordinated with your electricity distributor.
In these circumstances, we will arrange for the meter to be installed:
Where your electricity distributor is carrying out the connection alteration, we will work with them to coordinate the meter installation.
