When a customer asks Cable to energise or re-energise their premises, Cable will arrange the service with the relevant electricity distributor or, where available and appropriate, metering provider.
For an existing connection, Cable will request energisation as soon as practicable after the customer's electricity contract takes effect and any requirements necessary for energisation have been met.
The time it takes to complete the energisation depends on the electricity distributor, the meter, the equipment in place and the circumstances at the premises.
For NSW customers, distributor service standards may apply, but those standards are not a guaranteed Cable completion timeframe.
If Cable arranged for the premises to be disconnected, Cable will arrange re-energisation where required under the National Energy Retail Rules, including where, within 10 business days of disconnection, the customer:
Depending on the meter and the circumstances, re-energisation may be able to occur remotely.
If remote re-energisation is not available, permitted or appropriate, attendance by the distributor or another service provider may be required and the service may take longer.
Cable may also need additional information, electrical safety documentation or site work before the premises can be energised or re-energised.
